This is the ultimate tourist spot if you are looking for a behind the scenes look at everything Peter Jackson as well as a glimpse into the world of pop culture. Open Monday to Sunday 9am to 5.30pm, Weta Cave has many limited edition sculptures made by the artists of Weta. You will also find a collection of Doctor Grodborts amazing rayguns and all the books, DVDs, magazines, posters and all the art from the world of movies you could ever dream about.
Of course Te Papa, the national museum is a must see. You can easily spend several days in this place, and it’s a perfect place to stop if the wind picks up.
