Friends is an excellent TV series from which we can learn something meaningful.
Kind to Family Affection, Respect Families’ Decisions
Every familiy has itw own problem, not excepting the families of the six heros. For example, Ross and Monica’s parents are very bias — they are very proud of Ross but have always looked upon Monica with disapproval; Phoebe’s genetic father ran away from home, her adoptive mother committed suicide and her genetic mother knew nothing about her encounter… However, parents will always be parents and people will naturally love their parents, not excepting the six heros. We can learn from the TV series the attitude toward parents. First of all, do not expect parents to be perfect. For the unreasonables, children may just as wll be frank to talk to parents. For example, Monica tells her mother that she is too hard on her; Chandler tells her mother that she should behaves like an elder. What’s more, do not reconcile contradictions between parents reluctantly but should advoid their conflicts. For example, in Season 2, on Rachel’s birthday, the six friends even organizied two parties in order to avoid the confrontation of her father and mother. You cannot choose your families but you can only accept them though they are not up to your expectations.
Cherish Friendship, Trust, Forgive and Support Each Other
It’s hard to develop friendship but easy to break it. All things that can destroy their friends have ever happened among the six friends — Chandler has ever moved in on Joey’s girlfriend and threw Joey’s sister down; Joey and Ross strove for a girlfriend for three times; Phoebe and Monica have ever robbed the middle school student Ross when they were young and “trifled” on the street. They have a lot of defects. Ross often reads sealed-book paper to the others; Chandler always plays harsh jokes; Monica’s passion for cleanliness and win is usually intolerable; Rachel does nothing and cannot do anyting, even emptying the rubbish will make her snivel back; Phoebe sings very bad and the lyrics is an awful anticlimax, but the others still have to girve their support… Why their friendship stands strong? Because they know the tiptop principle of friends’ getting along — trust, forgive and support each other. Trust friends’ feelings towards themselves; forgive friends’ disadvantages and mistakes; support friends to go their own ways and do whatever they would like to.
Attitude towards Life, Optimistic and No Vicious Habits
The reason for Friends’ popular among youngers is that the six friends always remain their optimistic attitude towards life. Most people find that the six heros are simple-minded with no sourness. All of them are a little funny and alway make some innocent troubles. With facetious utterance, none of them thinks something deeply or scheme against each other. Most of the comic materials in this TV series come from the ignorant and exaggerative acts performed by the six heros. Otherwise, the six people have no vicious habits in their life. They sometime have some drinks just to creat some mood. They always support each other. Maybe they will quarrel with each other over small things, however, they will hug each other in the end and say “I love you” with tears in their eyes. Sometimes you will find that they are so lovely that they are qualified to be elected the best citizens.
