Overrated Actors: Three Who Are Still Working Today Somehow
Hollywood churns out so many films every year that it was hard to actually come to a decision on this topic. But after much deliberation and looking, I have found three of the most overrated actors to ever step in front of the camera. These three have a propensity to have movies make a lot of money, while being complete jackasses out of the limelight. And yet, everyone still gives them a free pass for it, just because they are actors.
- Up first is probably the weakest person on this list. His name is George Clooney and all the women who read that name just now, swooned a little. For some reason, this person has taken on Hollywood and come out victorious. He has starred in such hits has Return of the Killer Tomatoes and has played Batman (a really bad one). He has also been a thief in a world of poker tables and has lost his life at sea against a really big wave while trying to get some fish. And yet, in all of these movies, he plays the exact same guy; sort of smarmy with a hint of tough guy. And you know what? He gets away with it every time. Well, I’m here to say no more to Mr. Clooney and will not be partaking in any of his movies ever again.
- Mel Gibson. Braveheart himself. I do think that Mel has a wider acting range than does Mr. Clooney, but he is just so random in the stuff that he makes, that one minute it will be great, and the next will be complete crap. Seriously though, if you can come up with another movie that Mel has been in since Braveheart that hasn’t reeked of crap, let me know. And for the record, that movie was made in 1995. It has been 15 years and his record has nothing else to show for it, other than a rant against a certain people while he was inebriated. Mel, you are overrated big time.
- This last guy is someone who I really don’t like. I don’t like the movies he makes, I don’t like his personality and I don’t like the way he looks. Sean Penn has been trapping movie goers for years now and he finally found a way to win an Oscar by portraying a gay man. He tried once before to win the Oscar by playing a mentally handicapped man, but, as the film Tropic Thunder says, he didn’t win because he went “full retard.” Whatever the case, and whatever the venue, Sean sees it as a personal affront if he can’t espouse his personal political views on anyone and everyone who even so much as looks at him. If it weren’t for his being an actor, everyone would regard him as being a left-wing nutjob who lives in a box and screams at cars passing by his corner. As it is though, he is an actor who got a break at Ridgemont High, went on to death row, became gay and is now extremely overrated.
